Vigantoletten 1000 contains the active substance vitamin D (cholecalciferol), which is important for bone formation. Indications: prevention of rickets and osteomalacia in children and adults; prevention of disease in the event of a known risk of vitamin D deficiency in children and adults; prevention of vitamin D deficiency in the case of absorption disorders in children and adults; treatment of rickets and osteomalacia in children and adults; supportive therapy for osteoporosis in adults. Action: cholecalciferol through the active metabolites, especially calcitriol, increases the absorption of calcium and phosphate in the gastrointestinal tract, reabsorption of calcium in the kidneys and the concentration of calcium and phosphate in the blood. It inhibits the secretion of parathyroid hormone from parathyroid glands, facilitates bone mineralization and prevents the loss of calcium from the body. Dosage: prevention of rickets in newborns, infants and children: 1 tablet daily. Prevention of diseases in the case of known risk of vitamin D deficiency: 1 tablet daily. To prevent vitamin D deficiency in the case of absorption disorders in children and adults: 6-10 tablets per day. For adjuvant osteoporosis: 2 tablets daily.
